Improve ability to navigate layers panel

The layers automatically open when clicking on them and I constantly have to collapse them to navigate the layers tree.

I also can’t navigate the layers with the arrow keys easily.

Can you please make the layers panel easier to navigate and don’t auto expand the layers by default. Ideally they stay closed when clicking on them and I can open them manually where needed.
